Statement for the Record
Friends,
It has been brought to my attention that my campaign checked the wrong box to a question from the North Carolina Family Policy Council when filling out one of several candidate surveys that we submitted during the Primary.
I have contacted the NC Family Policy and requested the answer be corrected to reflect my accurate position on the issue, but was informed that their policy is to not allow candidates to change any answer once the survey has been submitted.
We have also requested a statement of acknowledgement from the organization that we contacted them immediately after learning about the error to request the change be made. We are awaiting their response.
The question containing the wrong box checked was question two, which asked should federal law extend health and other benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees. I am stating for the record that my position is an emphatic “No”, as I am a staunch advocate of the preservation of the family and traditional family values. I wholeheartedly supported and voted for the Marriage Amendment on May 8th.
